The Musselman boys swim team are having a dive into the season with them winning Berkeley county championships for the second time.
Led by seniors Daniel Sandlin and Sawyer Wright, the Appleman have posted some of their best performances in recent years. Daniel Sandlin, Sawyer Wright and Adam Sharp have been stand out performers this season combining friendship, unmatched speed and especially dominance. In fact Sandlin and Wright both currently hold every Musselman High school swim team record except for the 500-yard freestyle.
Adam Sharp is the closest to the record which he is predicted to break by the end of this year or in the next following season. Two other athletes who made some great contribution towards the team are Jacob G and Garret.
Reports from early 2025 noted that under Coach Ryan Barker’s guidance, the team saw significant improvement and increased interest in the sport, with momentum carrying into new seasons.
That’s not all. Coach James Miller has seen significant growth in both competitive results and individual performance, most recently capped by the boys’ team winning the 2026 Berkeley County Championship with Daniel Sandlin a standout who saw a 15.4% decrease in his 50 Yard Freestyle time, achieving a personal best of 22.08.
Sadly the season is coming near to an end, Regional 1a coming close and states. Time is cutting close with Miller being able to speak on its sudden urgency: “What the season is, it’s kind of the last chance for Sawyer and Daniel cause this is their 4 years. It’s their combination from the beginning to the end that both have led to big success and probably be names this school will remember. A bitter sweet season for our seniors leaving.”
