In the bustling kitchen of the Sweet Apple Cafe, kindness rose to the occasion this holiday season. Mrs. Rachel Nauman, the beloved Baking and Pastry teacher at Musselman High School, was honored with a heartfelt surprise from her student managers–led by Josh Drake, the student general manager of the bakery.
Josh came up with the idea to show appreciation for Mrs. Nauman’s dedication and warmth, and quickly brought it to the attention of other bakery managers.
“Mrs. Nauman does so much for us and I really wanted to put together a meaningful way to show our appreciation,” stated Josh
Inspired by his thoughtfulness, the team rallied together. Each manager who wished to contribute donated $15, pooling their funds to purchase a generous gift card. To make the gesture even more personal, they paired it with a Christmas card filled with warm wishes.
After 5th period, the managers stayed behind to present the gift. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and admiration as they handed Mrs. Nauman her gift, a small token of their deep appreciation for everything she does.
Mrs. Nauman’s reaction was one of genuine surprise and joy, a moment that reflected the strong bonds formed in her classroom– not just through baking, but through mentorship, teamwork, and shared purpose.
This act of kindness is a reminder that the sweetest gifts often come from the heart, and that at MuHS, gratitude is always in season.
