The Musselman Wrestling team has been through many changes in recent years. There have been three head coach changes and wrestlers transferring both in and out. But the program has always had one constant– gritty hard-core effort. This season will be no different.
Coach Metz is going into his second year of being head coach and has high expectations and goals for this year.
When asked about his goals for the team itself he said, “My biggest goal is to finish higher in the region. We took fourth last year and I’m hoping we can take second and fight for a title [this year]. I’d love to qualify for a state dual tournament again and keep that streak up.”
The Applemen look to have a strong lineup this year, both coaches and wrestlers. The coaches this year will be, Metz-head coach, Heinzman-assistant coach, and Henderson-assistant coach.
When asked what wrestlers Metz is excited to see this season, he responded, “Logan Smith is our biggest stand out, but I’m excited for the entire senior class: Logan, Cohen, Maddox and Jerod. As far as new kids, I’m excited to see Teddy Day.”
There will be three home wrestling events this season: A season kick off duel, senior night, and Grapple For The Apple. Let’s wish our wrestling team good luck this upcoming season!
