The Musselman boys soccer team prevailed through regionals to break a school record on Saturday, October, 25th against the Martinsburg Bulldogs.
Tensions were high leading into the game as Martinsburg was considered their rivals after beating our team in the previous season.
At the end of the game, the score was 1-1. After a tense overtime, the score remained the same. Each team had penalty kicks. The Applemen’s, RJ Sturba, took a shot and banged the ball top right taking our boys to regionals against Wheeling Park with a score of 5-4.
Dawson Roblee, the goalie, made out of this world saves, keeping the goal safely secured: “That’s just what I do.”
In addition, Dominic Demasi, team captain, had his fair share in the game with his equalizing goal making the score 1-1 prior to overtime.
The victory showed the grit of the Applemen boys soccer team.
Although they went on to lose against Wheeling Park, the team still made history by advancing so far this season.
Dehaven stated, “The boys soccer team went 13-4-4 this season and advanced to the state quarter finals for the first time in school history. Next year our goal is to continue this success and advance farther than the quarter finals.”
