As a way to spread the joy of Christmas, Musselman High School has been doing the Christmas Family Program for years now. This is a program where the school provides food and presents for families in need.
“We are all one big Appleman family, so we do it to help each other out,” stated Ms. Bagent, a paraprofessional at MuHS.
Ms. Bagent has recently taken up the responsibility of organizing this program.
“It has a place in my heart, since I know what it’s like. This is a program that would have helped me growing up,” she explained.
The process in finding the families happens through the school’s guidance counselors. They take note of kids who reach out for help or appear to be struggling. Those kids are called to discuss the program and are given a packet to fill out in order to receive donations.
Items are collected from kids participating in school clubs and through open donations. Twenty four of the clubs

offered at this school have signed up to give to the Christmas families.
Rotary club is one of the clubs that has offered to participate in this program by shopping and wrapping gifts. It is a large club, so they get a big family to provide for.
This year, the Rotary Club spent around one thousand dollars on gifts and supplies for wrapping.
Many people in this community have expressed their concern and support for others through this program.
“Our kids are selfless, generous, and kind. They want to make a difference,” stated Ms. Raines, the Rotary Club supervisor.
