On October 3rd, 2025, Taylor Swift released her 12th album The Life of a Showgirl. The album has very fun, upbeat pop songs on it. The theme for the album was showgirl and had orange and blue as the main colors for this album.
I would say it has a different vibe from her other albums– It may not be as good as the others, but it is still very amazing.
There was big anticipation for fans considering that Taylor got engaged right before she announced the new album.
So far, the album has over 460 million streams with a lot of people loving it (billboard.com). It has also broken several records. Some records she had already set like, largest sales in a week, becoming the most streamed album in a day, and the most pre-saved album (newsroom.com).
A lot of people really love the album, but some think it is not good lyrically and not as emotional as her other albums; however, this is one of my new favorite albums.
I just love the vibes, the catchiness of the songs, and even the lyrics. I think it’s just so fun, especially compared to some of her more recent emotional sadder stuff. I still love the sad the stuff, but this is a bit of a switch, and it was exactly what I wanted it to be—happy, girly, and upbeat tunes.
Not every song she makes has to be sad and gut wrenching, so I really love all the songs. Either way, there are some amazing lyrics in the album, and as time goes on, people will start to love it more.
Outside of her upbeat or sad songs, some of the songs are a little spicy, but that makes it more amazing and tells us how she really feels.
Looking at one of the popular songs off of the album, “The Fate of Ophelia” was an amazing way to start it off. Everything about it is exciting. I love the sound– it is catchy, relatable, and just so good.
The song “Ruin the Friendship” is also another one of my favorites. You can really interpret the song lyrics in many different ways. You could hear it as wanting to ruin a friendship to become more than friends. Alternatively, you could hear it in a regretful way how she did not ruin a friendship before someone passed, and it was too late.
The album does give off showgirl vibes and having Sabrina Carpenter, another popular pop singer, sing in the song “The Life of a Showgirl” was an amazing addition.
Bringing back Max Martin, a producer and songwriter, for this album was another great addition. A lot of his songs he’s worked on with Taylor in the past are some of my favorites, and I think that helped pull the album together and give it the fun pop vibes.
To me it is a no skip album. All twelve tracks are good, and she sounds amazing. A lot of the lyrics are wonderful, and the sounds of the songs are enjoyable and perfect for dancing around too.
