To kick off the Fall season, a fashionable trend has once again risen and has frequently been seen among the student body– off the shoulder crewnecks. This one is from the 80’s!

Most of the female student body has been seen following this trend at MuHS. The word “chopped” refers to the cut off neck of the sweatshirt. On the left we feature Elizabeth Guerrero in her adorable Hello Kitty shirt. And Kaya Grant on the right.

This stylish trend started in the 80’s. It was commonly seen in 80’s movies like “16 Candles”. It was brought back and blew up on TikTok. Popular content creator Mafe Anzures had a considerable influence on the teenage audience; specifically, girls.

It is super easy to do. All you need to do is just have some scissors and a crewneck! It is preferred to cut at least an inch to an inch and a half off, so that it stays off your shoulder. Like most things, there are pros and cons. Your shoulder can get cold, so having a jacket on hand or wearing it for appropriate times is recommended. Layering a tank top underneath is a clever way to keep yourself a little warmer in these chilly months.
