Movie Review “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”

Movie Review Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

Elliot Aldrich, Journalist

Puss In Boots The Last Wish is a sequel to the first Puss in Boots (2011) but does it hold up as a good sequel? I have to say this movie is surprisingly one of the best movies to come out in 2022. I’m really glad that it did so well because most movies this year, especially around the holidays, were pretty lackluster except Avatar 2 of course.

Now the plot of the movie is very simple. While the plot is simple, the theme and moral of the story are very meaningful but that’s for later.

Our movie begins with Puss holding a party celebrating his heroic actions all across the world, Half way into the party, it’s revealed that this party is not approved at all and the mayor of the town is furious and attempts to capture Puss. In doing so, he wakes up the giant. The giant starts wreaking havoc on the town and Puss goes in to save the day, but after successfully saving the town a bell falls on him. Puss wakes up in the village’s doctor’s office and is told some devastating news: he is on his last life. All cats have nine lives and Puss has been recklessly wasting them. He is told to retire, but instead of immediately retiring, he goes to the bar. At this bar, Puss in boots encounters Death. After Puss labels him as a bounty hunter, they then duel where Puss is swiftly defeated and has a panic attack and runs away.

So long story short, Puss is being hunted down by death for his last life and must find a wishing star to get those back. But as he meets people along his journey, he realizes what he’s been doing wrong in his life and decides to change that along the way. Overall, a very good movie about appreciating what you have and plus the villains never fail to miss from Dreamworks.
