The Musselman football team made their season debut in style with new jerseys on August 29th. They played the University Hawks and lost 21-40. Despite this loss, the Applemen have high hopes for this season with their understanding of the potential they have.
On September 5th, the football team faced the Loudoun Valley Vikings. They suffered a devastating one score loss. (28-35). The Applemen wore their American Flag alternate jerseys. The turning point of the game was late in the fourth quarter. The score was 28-28 and Musselman had the ball nearing the 50 yard line when they threw an interception, which led to the Vikings game winning score. Evan Clark was injured (ankle sprain) and is expected to be out for two weeks. Brandon Leonard was also out due to injury.

On September 12th, the Applemen had their first away game of the season against the Wheeling Park Patriots. The long bus ride didn’t phase the Applemen as they upset the patriots 21-14! Going into the game, no one predicted Musselman would be walking away with their first victory. The Applemen’s defense had a in-goal stop late in the 4th quarter that sealed the win.
It’s hard to attribute the win to any one person. When you review the game play by play, it’s clear everyone is doing their job and executing well. The Applemen also debuted their Senior Hammer along with their new away jerseys.
On September 19th the Applemen came back to their home turf to play against the Spring Mills Cardinals. They lost 0-20. The Applemen came up short 3 yards from the endzone and had a 80 yard touchdown pass called back. Demari Pearson suffered a shoulder injury and is on pace to be back in two weeks.
The Applemen are currently 1-3. Next they will face the Martinsburg Bulldogs on 10/3 at home.
