With the team’s previous successful season, ending in a trip to states, hopes are high for Musselman’s very own Lady Applemen basketball team. Looking at the varsity team, the talent is young with only two seniors on the roster. So far this season, the girls have gone 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the region, putting the team in 4th.
Cheyenne Dusing, a MuHS sophomore, is one of the young talents on the team. She is mostly known for her monumental skills when shooting. The question that comes to mind after finding out about the youth of the team is who really leads?
“I think our team can make it to states again. We have put in a lot of work and are more than capable of making it to states,” Cheyenne stated, giving her opinion on a second round of states.
When asked who leads the team, Cheyenne responded, “I think our biggest leader is Nevaeh Thompson. She is always willing to help everyone out and does great at communicating on and off the court.”
Marissa Wascher, a junior, agrees with Cheyenne by saying, “Neveah always gives 100% and is there working hard and showing up when others aren’t. “
With this being said, we hope to see Neveah lead the team to states for their second year in a row. Not only does team leadership come in hand with basketball, but the coaching staff does as well.
When asked how the coaches have helped her, Cheyenne stated, “The coaches have helped me tremendously throughout my time on this team. They are very dedicated to the team and put so much effort into helping all of us get better.”
Coach Potter and the rest of the coaching staff are anticipating another successful season of basketball.
