For the students behind the popular bakery, it’s not just about creating delicious baked goods–it’s about creating a hands-on learning experience. This year, the bakery is undergoing an exciting transformation as it moves to a new location and upgrades its facilities. The renovations are aimed at making the bakery even more efficient and accessible for both the students and the customers who eagerly await their weekly treats.
Since the bakery’s inception, it has been housed in several different locations, including the front office area, an English hallway classroom, and the foods classroom. Each space presented unique challenges in terms of accessibility and functionality. According to the bakery instructor, Mrs. Nauman, the decision to renovate was motivated by the desire to create a more cohesive and efficient workspace.
“This new area is much easier for teachers to reach and is connected to the foods room,” she explains. The proximity to the foods classroom is crucial, as it allows students to seamlessly move between preparing baked goods and attending to their other culinary duties.
The renovation is bringing much-needed upgrades to the space. New equipment, walls, doors, and floors are being installed to improve the bakery’s layout and workflow. Additionally, the electrical system and lighting are being upgraded to create a brighter and more functional environment. The floor work was handled by Mr. Engels BMO Class–building, maintenance, and operation, which is providing invaluable hands-on experience for students in that program as well.
The renovation will not only enhance the functionality of the bakery but also ensure that it is a welcoming space for customers and students alike. The improved facilities will help accommodate growing demand and provide the students with better tools to perfect their craft.
While the renovation process is in full swing, the goal is to have the bakery ready for customers before the new year. Despite the ongoing changes, the bakery team is committed to maintaining its operations without any disruptions.
The good news for customers is that the renovation will not affect the bakery’s operations or its menu offerings. Mrs. Nauman assures that nothing will stop the students from providing fresh, high-quality products to the community. “Nothing will stop us,” she said with confidence, ensuring loyal customers that the bakery will continue serving its delicious goods during the renovation process.
The bakery team is eager to show off the new space once it’s finished, and it’s clear that the upgrades will make a significant difference in how they operate and in the overall customer experience. As the renovation nears completion, the bakery will be ready to enter the new year with a fresh look and even better facilities for baking, learning, and serving the community.
The students’ hard work and dedication will undoubtedly shine through in every product they sell.
