Mr. Engle might be a new teacher here this year, but he is a familiar face due to him being a cook for the last few years for Musselman High School.
When asked why he wanted to teach here he replied, “I was born and raised here. I went to Musselman High School and I enjoy it. It’s just a totally different atmosphere here than any other school.”
The specific class he teaches is BMO-Building Maintenance Operations, which is a new program to Berkeley County. MuHs is the first school that has the opportunity to teach the class so they are setting the blueprint.
When asked what he did before this job, he replied, “Before this job, I have done many things. I’ve done construction, I’ve done lots of maintenance, I drove a school bus. I have worked for Seven Eleven for many years for maintenance, and I even own my own landscaping business, so I’ve done a little bit of everything.”
Engle also attended college prior to all of his jobs.
“I originally went to school at Le Cordon Bleu for college in Pittsburgh PA for culinary, so I do a lot of cooking and catering,” stated Engle.
Mr. Engle and his students have done many projects around the school. They cut all the trees down by the student parking lot, pulled weeds, they made holes for signs for the football stadium, made pizza boards, put desks and chairs together, redid the counter in the front cafe store and many other things.
Outside of work, he has a set of twins, one boy and one girl and spends a lot of time with them and the rest of his family. He works on his landscaping business and he loves to cook.
