It is competition season for Musselman High School show choir and all participants have been hard at work as they premiered their show to the public on January 11th at MuHS. Looking forward to the season, they have five competitions led by Mr. Miller, the choir teacher here at MuHS with their goal being to make finals for hopefully all five competitions.
“If we win, great. But if we don’t make finals or win, we at least get to watch some really good show choirs” stated Mr Miller.
The theme for this year’s show is themed Avatar, The Last Airbender, a three seasoned kids show based on the elements, Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. The songs they are singing are taking on more of a medley type of feel like, “I Feel The Earth Move” by Carole King, “Rolling Down The River” by Tina Turner, “Fireball” by Pitbull, “Zombie” by The Cranberries, “Mad Hatter” by Melanie Martinez, and many more. There are a few hard working soloists singing, Kaitlyn Evans, Gracie, Diego, Riley Wilson, and Isaiah Scott.
When asked how everyone is feeling about the upcoming season, Mr. Miller replied, “Everyone is really excited. They have really taken to the theme, we are just trying to build on where we were last year.”
They have 65 people putting this whole production together, 41 students in show choir, 20 kids in band, and about 4 people doing tech. Everyone is excited to see how this year’s competition will turn out.
