It is a bittersweet moment for the Lady Applemen volleyball team as they compete at states, but also come to the end of the 2023 season. The girls traveled all the way to Charleston, WV and left with the support of their school, community, and fellow teammates. After a very intense set of games, the team placed first runner up in the 2023 State Tournament. The team displayed hard work, strategy, and commitment on the court, as well as their companionship for one another and the intense bond they built over the season.
The girls are very thankful for their experience at states. Kendall Watcher, senior varsity member of the team, tells us that she is very grateful and appreciative of the opportunity to even make it to the championship. She tells us “Not many people get to compete in the state championship so it was very honorable to be able to represent our school.” The girls are incredibly proud of each other for making it to states and giving it their all.
With the end of the season, many members of the team are reflecting on the season and appreciating its greatest accomplishments and moments. Keleigh Chrisman, senior varsity member, says she will miss competing at states and playing with a team, as she enjoyed the time spent with them very much. “I am definitely going to miss being on a team with everyone, we became really close and great friends..” she states.
Although the season has come to the end, the legacy of the team continues. We are excited to see the growth of the team and what the seniors of this year’s season pursue and continue in the future. The girls put in countless hours of dedication, skill, and passion for the sport both in and out of games. Musselman takes time to honor their journey to states, and the team as a whole.
