A new trend is rising among the student body at Musselman High School. Bubble braids are making their comeback with their customizable and easy-to-wear ways, frequently seen being worn by girls during the summer and fall months.
First seen in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, but originating in Mali, Africa; bubble braids are a black hairstyle but, has been seen worn by celebrities like Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, and Gigi Hadid.
Bubble braids blew up on TikTok and once it hit social media platforms, everybody hopped on the bubble braid train. People loved how customize the hairstyle is to anyone’s liking–colored bands, metal clips, and hair charms are commonly seen being worn with this hairstyle.
Now, there are a couple of pros and cons to this hairstyle. One of our amazing students at Musselman High School is a follower of this super cute trend.
“I like doing bubble braids because it’s really stylish and it’s pretty with any type of outfit and hair,” stated Nnarayn Esperanza, a MuHS sophomore.
That said, there are a couple of complaints about this hairstyle. Some people do not like the small rubber bands and how they can pull your hair when taking them out. There is always the option of carefully cutting the bands out, but people may not want to risk cutting their hair.
This super cute trend is immensely popular here at MuHS. Would you be a follower of this trend? Or would you rather do traditional braids?
