The Musselman Appleman faced off against the Hedgesville Eagles in an EPAC regional game on Feb. 28th at Hedgesville. This game decided who was going to states and who was going home. In their previous matchups, both teams had beat each other at least once. These two teams had always played very physical, good games. Although the game was hosted by the Eagles, having home court advantage, it did not the Appleman fans from showing up with team spirit.

Tip off began and it seemed as if both teams were nervous as both made mistakes left and right. The score was 2-2 after three minutes. The quarter started to pick up after a time out as Hedgesville went on a run ending the quarter 12-7. The start of the next quarter was underway as Hedgesville didn’t seem to be slowing down. They played patient and got good looks as they kept falling. Musselman was keeping up at the end, getting a few shots to fall with only trailing by 8 going into the half.

The start of the second half saw a pretty low scoring game as the score was Hedgesville 26, Musselman 18. Hedgesville continued to be patient as everything was going right for them. The clock and score was in their hands as they swung the ball around getting good shots. Musselman wasn’t getting dad looks either just most of them weren’t falling.

Hedgesville lead going into the fourth by 11, although Musselman did not give up as they seemed more aggressive and had some fight left in them. The score halfway through was 47-41, with Musselman clawing their way back into the game. The game seemed to stop there as neither team scored for about three minutes, until Hedgesville ended with some free throws. The final score Hedgesville 52, Musselman 41
